Let next President sign pact with MILF, says governor

Posted by akosistella on February 3, 2010

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines – North Cotabato Vice Governor Emmanuel Piñol said the draft peace agreement being worked out by the Arroyo government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) should be submitted for review by the country’s next president.

Piñol has toned down his criticisms of the ongoing negotiations between the national government and the MILF and welcomed the fact that the government and rebels have been working on the details of a draft agreement.

He proposed, however, that the Arroyo government and the MILF wait for the next President to come in so that he could review the pact and give his government support to it.
