Teachers’ allowances for election duties hiked

The Commission on Elections has approved Resolution No. 8786 granting an additional P1, 300 allowance for teachers serving on the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI). This is in addition to the P3, 000 honorarium each will receive.

Of the allowance, P500 is for the inspection, verification and sealing of the book of voters, another P500 for the testing and sealing of counting machines, and P300 for transportation. The board will also be given three days’ worth of service credits.

Acosta’s inclusion in ballot could favor Villar, says LP

MANILA, Philippines–Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino’s camp protested the continued inclusion of a disqualified presidential bet in the ballot, saying it was “unfair” and “disadvantageous” to the senator because it could benefit fellow candidate and closest rival Senator Manny Villar.

“As it is now, left unchanged, the present design of the ballot is disadvantageous to Noynoy Aquino,” Aquino’s campaign manager and former congressman Florencio ”Butch” Abad said in a text message on Sunday.
