Posted by akosistella on March 9, 2010

AT least 300 law students, former government officials and members of several civil society and militant groups joined Monday’s “solidarity march” to urge the Supreme Court SC not to grant the petitions filed before it seeking to allow President Arroyo to appoint the next Chief Justice even during the implementation of election ban on appointments.

The protesters, mostly wearing black shirt emblazoned with slogan “No to midnight appointment of Chief Justice,” gathered in front of the Court of Appeals CA building on Maria Orosa Street, Manila, before marching along UN and Taft avenues. The groups settled and held a brief program in front of University of the Philippines on Padre Faura Street, just beside the SC gate.
