Former foe now runs with Estrada

MANILA, Philippines—From one of those who joined calls for the ouster of former President Joseph Estrada in 2001, lawyer JV Bautista of the militant Sanlakas group has turned supporter and now passionately defends the ex-president in their campaign sorties.
Bautista, who is running for senator under Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), devotes much of his speeches to tackling the folly of having ousted Estrada in the “Edsa Dos” revolution nine years ago.
Lakas-Kampi mayor calls Gordon ‘most qualified president’
SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna, Philippines—Better safe than sorry.
The mayor of San Pablo City in Laguna introduced Sen. Richard Gordon as “maybe the next president of the Philippines” when he introduced the Bagumbayan standard bearer in a simple assembly inside the city hall Monday morning.
But Mayor Vicente Amante of Lakas-Kampi quickly explained that he did not want to give the impression he had jumped ship.
