BACOLOD CITY—THE NEGROS Occidental police arrested three men in Valladolid town after they were found carrying counterfeit 500-peso bills on Monday.
Supt. Norberto Boston, head of the Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety Management Co., identified the suspects as Stephen Magno, 26, Henry Magno, 21, and Jay-R Nacion, 21.
Boston said a police team based in Barangay Ara-al, La Carlota City, acted on the complaint of victims Nilda Rojo, Alnie Tiano and Kerwin Villarte after the three suspects bought grocery items from their store.
The policemen recovered 13 pieces of fake P500 bills from the three suspects who were detained at the La Carlota City Police Station.
Senior Supt. Manuel Felix, Negros Occidental police chief, said counterfeit bills proliferate during election season and fiestas and cockfights. (Carla P. Gomez, Inquirer Visayas)
