MANILA, Philippines – Voters are advised to check their names in the watch list of multiple registrants to avoid disenfranchisement in the May 10 elections.

Elections Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal said voters have only eight week to verify whether they are in the list of double registrants.

“We encourage people to visit the Comelec offices in the different cities and municipalities to just verify their records and avoid confusion,” he said.

Comelec stumped by ads showing several bets

MANILA, Philippines–Television commercials on which more than one candidate is shown save money for the aspirants to public office, but computing how many seconds should be credited to each candidate poses a dilemma for the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Comelec Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal said the poll body would have to determine whether to count the whole ad against the allotted time credit of a candidate, or just the portions of it where the candidate appeared.

Larrazabal took note of the issue amid reports that many of the candidates for president had nearly used up the 120 minutes of commercials per TV station that they are allowed during the campaign period, as prescribed by the Fair Election Act.
