MANILA, Philippines – The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) on Monday agreed to conduct public interview of nominees to the Chief Justice position, Justice Secretary Alberto Agra said.
The public interviews are scheduled on April 19 and 20.
Only after the public interviews that the council would be able to determine if it would submit the names of all six nominees to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Agra said in a phone interview.
In a separate text message, Quezon City Representative Matias Defensor said they would also await the decision of the Supreme Court on the motion for reconsideration filed by several groups to reverse the high tribunal’s ruling allowing Arroyo to appoint the next Chief Justice despite the Constitutional ban.
