TO TAKE A STAND
By Oscar P. Lagman
Buoyed by the cocky pronouncement s of Lakas-Kampi campaign manager Prospero Pichay that the party network has locked up 33% of the electorate for the party’s standard-bearer, Gilbert Teodoro, and his campaign strategists have dismissed the usefulness of surveys. “I don’t pay attention to surveys anymore. Whether I’ve gone up or down, it’s nothing to me. Our campaign is based on our party network and party strengths,” said Teodoro recently. That may very well be the reason he has been stuck at 6% in survey ratings.
They should have known better than to believe Pichay, who could not get the party network to get himself elected to the Senate, and to expect Ms. Arroyo’s support when even her solemn vows she does not keep. The vaunted party network is rapidly breaking up as units scamper toward the sources of campaign funds.
