Roxas rails at drug firms skirting Cheaper Medicines Law

SEN. Mar Roxas III, citing complaints that drug companies were skirting the cheaper-medicines law, asked Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral to ensure “full compliance” by drugstores with the discounted rates of medicines included on the second list of essential drugs subject to government price limitations.
In a statement, Roxas noted reports that drugstores have yet to sell medicines covered by the second Government-Mediated Access Price (GMAP) list.
Since government personnel have returned to work after the Holy Week break, Roxas voiced hopes that the Department of Health (DOH) would now focus its efforts on implementing the law that would enable Filipinos to buy their essential medicine requirements at lower costs.
