LP welcomes Salceda

Liberal Party members welcomed [Joey] Salceda’s move to the party.
Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and Quezon Rep. Lorenzo Tañada III said Salceda’s move ensures Aquino’s victory in the vote-rich Bicol region. Albay has nearly 700,000 votes.
Other Bicolano politicians supporting Aquino are Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo and Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, who comes from Sorsogon.
“It is an indication that a bandwagon is now in the offing in favor of Senator Aquino. For the first time since 1998, there is no true blue Bicolano running for President. With key Bicolano leaders supporting Noynoy, there is a big chance that we will win big in the Bicol region,” Pangilinan told abs-cbnNEWS.com/Newsbreak.
“I think he should be welcomed. He is a very intelligent governor. He’s got the experience of being a legislator. He’s also a governor. I think he should be welcomed in the LP,” said returning senatorial candidate Ralph Recto. He also left Lakas-Kampi-CMD last year to join LP.
Salceda defection ‘vindication’ for Villar
MANILA, Philippines—Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Sen. Manuel Villar said Wednesday that the transfer of Albay Gov. Joey Salceda to the Liberal Party vindicated him from his opponents’ “Villarroyo” allegation.
Villar said Salceda’s transfer is a “vindication” for him that there was no Villarroyo alliance.
Villar spoke to reporters in an ambush interview before joining the graduation rites of the Perpetual Help College of Manila at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) where he was the guest speaker.
