Politicians expected at Quiboloy birthday bash

Posted by akosistella on April 24, 2010

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the religious sect The Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Name above Every Name (KJC), describes his 60th birthday celebration on Sunday as the “biggest children’s party in the land.”

The sect, founded in 1985, has converted its headquarters at Barangay Sasa here into a “Little Disneyland” for Quiboloy’s very special guests—hundreds of poor and malnourished children from all over Mindanao— and a number of politicians who have been openly courting his support.

“These kids cannot afford to go to Disneyland, so I brought Disneyland to them,” Quiboloy told the Inquirer

Teodoro on Quiboloy bash: ‘I’m after his birthday celebration’

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Administration standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro said he would attend the birthday bash of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Name above Every Name, not for political reasons.

“I am after his birthday celebration,” Teodoro told reporters in his visit here.

Reports indicated that Quiboloy is expected to endorse his presidential candidate on his birthday Sunday.

Among those reportedly invited were Teodoro, his vice presidential partner Edu Manzano, and several other members of the Lakas-Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino-Christian Muslim Democrats senatorial slate.

Asked for a reaction on the possibility that he would be endorsed by Quiboloy, Teodoro said, “Hindi endorsement ang habol ko kundi birthday n’ya.”

Quiboloy’s religious group has over six million members.

Teodoro said he also attended Quiboloy’s birthday celebration last year.

“Itanong mo kung sinong mga kandidato ang nandito last year sa birthday n’ya. Ako lang. Hindi pa ako kandidato noon,” he said. (Inquirer.net)
