Quiboloy endorses Gibo, Roxas

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Evangelist Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ the Name Above Every Name congregation last night endorsed Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro for president in the May 10 elections.

Quiboloy also endorsed Liberal Party’s Sen. Manuel Roxas II for vice president.

The pastor repeatedly said in earlier interviews that the presidential candidate he would choose would be the “Father God’s choice” as it would not only be his own choice but that of his entire congregation which has more than six million voters.

Thousands join Noynoy, Mar rally

MANILA, Philippines – With only a week from election day, the Liberal Party (LP) made a show of force yesterday with thousands of volunteers and supporters massing up for the tandem of Senators Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.

High school and college classmates of Aquino from Ateneo de Manila University batch 1977 and 1981 showed up to express their support for the LP presidential bet.

Each took their turns to describe how Aquino was like when he was still a student. All of them said Aquino did well in school despite the personal struggle of his family while the patriarch, the martyred former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., was incarcerated during the martial law years.

Former neighbor testifies on Villar’s rags-to-riches story

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – A former neighbor of Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. in Moriones, Tondo came out in the open yesterday and testified on the rags-to-riches story of the presidential candidate.

Villar was surprised to see Danny Tinoco, who has relocated in General Santos City.

Tinoco recalled how the young Villar accompanied his mother, Nanay Curing, to Divisoria to sell one or two “banyeras” of shrimps and fish.

‘PMP the only true opposition’

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Former President Joseph Estrada yesterday declared here that the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) is the “only true oppositionist.”

Estrada also said other political groups conspired to remove him from power through EDSA People Power 2 in 2001.

Estrada said the country should only celebrate the EDSA People Power in 1986 that toppled the Marcos dictatorship.
