MANILA, Philippines – Erroneous transmission of results from PCOS (precinct count optical scan) machines have been reported in several areas across the country, the Commission on Elections disclosed Thursday, but officials said these would not affect the outcome of both national and local elections.
In a press briefing, Comelec spokesman Director James Jimenez said that “human error” led to some areas transmitting the results of the final testing and sealing (FTS) process instead of the actual election results.
Jimenez said that in some areas, the back-up memory cards containing the results of the FTS were used to replace faulty memory cards. As a result, instead of the actual election results, the results of the FTS were transmitted.
