Only three definite things in this world: death, taxes, and a Kris Aquino controversy.Three days before President Noynoy Aquino’s inauguration, she did the inevitable: almost stealing the limelight away from her brother’s inauguration, in a tearful farewell announcement on The Buzz, which should receive an award for propagating cultural enlightenment. And for fuck’s sake, how many times has she delivered lachrymose farewells on that show already? In the second to the last week, her name came up in the front pages of newspapers, allegedly for trying to have a hand in selecting the next senate president. She was reportedly calling up senators one by one to support Sen. Francis Pangilinan. One of the candidates for the post, Franklin Drilon, admitted he—a Cory loyalist through and through—was deeply hurt. A week after… kaboom! She will not be eclipsed by her elder brother’s shindig. And she will never understand the real joys and values of privacy.

Erap to media: Stay out of my personal life

Posted by akosistella on March 5, 2010

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Deposed President Joseph Estrada has declared that personal issues are off-limits to media scrutiny in his second presidential campaign.

Estrada, whose reputation as a womanizer became a big issue in his first run for president in 1998, lost his cool when reporters noted the presence of former starlet Laarni Enriquez and their daughter, Jerica, at a campaign sortie in Dalaguete town here on Wednesday.

“It's personal already. Even the sign says ‘private property, no trespassing.’ So how come you’re trespassing into my personal life?” he said with some annoyance.

A day in the life… of Noynoy Aquino

Posted by akosistella on February 21, 2010

MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III sat comfortably on a black leather sofa in a bistro in Davao City the night before their latest sorties in Mindanao. It was past 10 p.m. and he said he could not stay long since he would have to be up by 6 a.m. to prepare for a local radio interview.

But it was past midnight when he stood up to go, a rare chance for media to catch him relaxed since he became the Liberal Party’s (LP) presidential candidate.

Noynoy eyes impeachment for GMA-appointed Chief Justice

“It’s not a question of recognition, but I think I will have to follow the Constitution which says she (Mrs. Arroyo) can’t appoint,” he said.

“If she appoints somebody and I don’t object, then I’m tacitly approving the appointment and going against the Constitution,” he pointed out.

A magistrate who accepts an unlawful appointment may be impeached, he stressed.
